I really have no idea what the central point of this protest was. There were vast differences in the “typical” Jack Lieberman venture. Props a-plenty (both signs and US flags). There were plenty of hints that The People for the American Way was a sponsor, but the only time I saw that organization/NGO was at this protest. It took place in April 2006.
People For the American Way (PFAW) is a progressive advocacy organization founded in 1981 by Norman Lear, a television producer and political activist. The organization’s mission is to defend constitutional values, including free speech, religious freedom, equal justice under law, and the right to vote. PFAW works to promote these values through public education, advocacy, and grassroots organizing. The organization also monitors and opposes right-wing extremism and works to protect the independence of the judiciary. PFAW has played a key role in many important social and political issues, including the fight against the confirmation of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, the defense of voting rights, and the promotion of LGBTQ equality. The organization has a network of over one million members and supporters and is based in Washington, D.C.

Numerous speakers and entertainment were at the starting point, the west side of the Government Center in downtown Miami. The march then went from the Government Center to The Torch of Friendship on Biscayne Blvd. in Downtown Miami.
As with many of my protest shoots, the order of the images is somewhat mixed because I shot with 2 camera bodies.
