I did several shoots of Gustavo over a year or so, some with so-so results, and then there were a few where the crowds and available light were a near-perfect match. I consider this one of those days when the stars were aligned. I used fill flash on a lot of these and it worked out really well, increasing the separation between subject and background.
The relative closeness of subjects and the freedom to move around wherever I wanted, turned into a bokeh party. I’m sure there are a few folks that don’t care for the use of long lenses in these situations, but I happen to love it. Some people are afraid of clowns too!
Fast lenses and sunny days are occasionally filled with wonder.
