The Iconic Colony, Boulevard, and Starlite trio of hotels are among the best examples of why South Beach is so unique in its rich history of Deco Architecture—located south of 8th St. on Ocean Drive.

This is a rectilinear panorama comprised of 34 images shot and stitched in 2 rows of 17 images each. This version is half the size of the original at 8171 x 2791 pixels. It will print to 4 feet easily and beyond if you don’t expect folks to inspect it from a foot or 2 away.

I first thought of trying this shoot over a year before I actually shot it. I was waiting patiently for the Colony to fix their neon to a respectable level. It was shot with a Nikon D2oo with a Nikkor 50mm f/1.2 stopped down to f/8, 2 sec. exposure at ISO 100 mounted on a Manfrotto SPH Pano head.
